Three kinds of tools fight RTO. Only one goes after the courier.
Checkout filters work before dispatch. Workflow tools work after. Neither touches the gap where couriers write their own failure reports. That gap is where your freight money disappears.
The RTO tooling market has three species, and they're often confused for each other.
Checkout tools
The GoKwik / Razorpay Magic family intervenes pre-purchase. They score the buyer at checkout, block risky carts, nudge COD toward prepaid. Useful — but their work ends at dispatch. Once the parcel leaves, they're blind.
NDR workflow tools
The Clickpost / Pragma family intervenes post-NDR. They trigger reattempt prompts, address confirmation flows, buyer outreach. Also useful — but they share one assumption: that the courier's failure report is true. They optimize the response to the NDR. They never ask whether the NDR is real.
The third category: courier auditing
It assumes the logistics network can be adversarial. It cross-examines every failure report against independent signals: rainfall records vs. weather claims, timestamp physics, reason consistency, delivery patterns across the same pincode on the same day. When the report doesn't survive cross-examination, it builds the evidence pack and files the dispute.
Why does the third category barely exist? Follow the money. Most RTO tools are sold by or through aggregators — the same layer earning commission on courier volume. Auditing the courier is a structural conflict of interest for anyone whose revenue flows through couriers. An independent layer has no such conflict; its only job is the merchant's money.
The three categories stack — you can (and probably should) run all three. But if you're only running the first two, every fake "customer unavailable" still costs you double freight, and nobody in your stack is even looking.
ShipSense is the third category: a forensic intelligence layer that scores risk before dispatch and audits what couriers claim after it. See how it works.
A math-first logistics intelligence layer for Indian D2C. We score RTO before you ship, catch fake NDRs, and recover what couriers owe you.
